Changes in Form 1099-MISC
Unlike other forms, IRS Form 1099-MISC has undergone various changes in the past two years. Subsequently, old boxes 13 to 17 have been renumbered to 14 to 18 respectively.

Form 1099-MISC exemptions
There are payments that are not required to be reported on Form 1099 MISC, although they may still be taxable to the recipient of the payment. Nonemployee compensation reported in Box 7 of 1099-MISC has to be reported in a new form, Form 1099-NEC for the 2022 tax year. To accommodate this change, Form 1099-MISC has been revised and a new form has been introduced.
